The Benefits of Occupational Health

New research has been published on factors impacting on employment for adults over 50 since the start of Covid-19 pandemic. The study, published by the Office for National Statistics, is part of a larger national longitudinal study (The Over 50s Lifestyle Study) seeking to understand the motivations for those aged 50-65 leaving work during the pandemic.
Amongst many other questions, researchers asked adults currently in paid work about the type of support they received at their workplace. Those who have never left the workforce were more likely to say they had access to support from their employer than those who had left work and returned. This was particularly evident for occupational health support.
The researchers conclude that access to workplace support seems to be a factor in retaining the workforce.
This provides yet more evidence for the benefits and cost-effectiveness of Occupational Health support for both employers and employees.
