Lead Workers Medical
Statutory medical surveillance under the Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002
Under the Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002, employers must ensure employees exposed to lead receive medical surveillance by an HSE-appointed doctor. Our doctors hold the necessary appointments to carry out these statutory examinations.
Surveillance is required for any employee likely to be exposed at or above the relevant action levels — including biological monitoring of blood lead concentrations.
What's included
- Comprehensive occupational history and exposure review
- Clinical examination and fitness-to-work assessment
- Blood lead level monitoring
- Biological monitoring (zinc protoporphyrin where indicated)
- Statutory record-keeping in line with HSE requirements
- Clear written report and certification of fitness
Who it's for
Employers with workers exposed to lead — including battery manufacturing, smelting and refining, demolition and renovation, ammunition production, paint stripping, and certain construction and maintenance roles.
